Birthday boy wins at Weston

 Weston Pools - Canal

October 3rd 2020

This month the club returned to Weston Pools on the Canal and with the recent drop in temperatures, and a few people ill or isolating, we were reduced to twelve members and two guests.

The first section, and the match, was taken by Paul Mc on what he claimed to be his 47th brthday. He must have got his birth certificate of the same fella George Weah did.
He turned up armed to the teeth with maggots, maggots and more maggots and it turned out to be a masterplan. He weighed 69-06 from a peg nobody would have fancied before the match so well done. The winnings were duly spent on curry and Guiness.

In the second section Tony Wilson on peg 10 also fished maggot for a weight of 59-04, made up mailny of ide shallow at 6m. This meant the golden peg would roll over again.

The third section was taken by guest Les Thompson on peg 20. He's switched between the rod to the far bank and the short pole to amass a weight of 33-08.

The final section was taken by Dave Edwards who ended up with half the lake to himself due to late drop outs. The fishery also decided he could have his aerator off but all the others would stay on. Not that he's lucky much.
He's fished an expander on a strung out rig and has thrown loose micros at his float like an absolute helmet. This has resulted in him foul hooking about 200lb of carp and landing 63lb for 2nd in the match.
How can you compete with such dickheadedness?

The veterans cup final was postponed due to Dennis Clayton being unable to fish. A nice gesture from Rob Jones.

Next match is back at Weston on Belvidere and Weir in two weeks and will see the resumption of the Winter knockout cup final.
