The golden peg had been rolling over since the beginning of the year and was up to £105. It was drawn by Rob Jones on end peg 2, usually a very good peg and with just 2 other pegs to beat he fancied to win it. Despite the best efforts of everyone trying to get into his head all week, Rob held his nerve and duly produced. 

He fished the feeder to the far bank and the pallet on peg 1 and put together 91-04 to take both the section and the golden peg dollars. £120 for a section in a club match, not bad work if you can get it. 

The next section saw a close battle between Tony Wilson on peg 9 and new kid on the block, Mike Cox on peg 8. Both have caught mainly big fish short, with Mike also picking up a few at the far bank. After 5 hours of back and forth both were claiming similar weights. Mike weighed first with 111-14 only to be pipped by Tony's 120-04. A new PB and first ton for Mike who is hoping to join the league next year.

The next section was taken by Dave Edwards who after getting terrorised by his youngest son for the first couple of hours decided to just chuck a method feeder in front of his nets. Dave caught several large carp the biggest of which went 13-14 and took the lead for the biggest fish of the year. He had a total of 105-04, enough for 3rd place in the match. He also had Lucozade and groundbait in his hair, maggots down his pants and sweetcorn juice all over his face. 

The bowl on Stretton which is usually good for weights of F1's and Ide hasn't produced at all and the weights around here were poor. Dennis Clayton took a section with 43-12, Paul Edwards with 32-06 and the final section went to end peg drunk wanker Neal Howard on peg 30 with 87-02. 

Big congratulations to Neal on his engagement to Charl. He set off for York after the match to propose (it was supposed to be Budapest but was cancelled) and just before I wrote this I saw on Facebook that she said yes.
