A win for the Manc

Blundells Fishery
20th June 2020

The clubs first league match back since the Covid-19 restrictions saw 15 members spread across two lakes, Ash and Pine. Both of these lakes are canals between 20m and 25m wide so there were more rods on show than usual.
On arrival there were loads of big carp cruising just under the surface and things looked promising. However, they were very crafty and spent most of the day patrolling the far bank and rarely came within pole range. There appeared to be very little else to target with bites on the pole few and far between.
On Ash the first section was taken by Keith with 18-12 with a mixed bag fishing maggot on the pole.
The final section and third place overall went to Col Roe with another mixed bag on hard pellet weighing 32-06.
Over on Pine lake and the first section went to Carl Harrison with 28-10. He's caught a few carp on the pellet waggler and a few on the pole short. He has also set the benchmark for the season's biggest fish with a carp of 10lb excatly. Well....Dave weighed it and he doesn't fuck around with ounces.
The next section went to Paul Mc just holding off Dave with 22-04 and also winning the spotty so a nice day all round.
The final section saw the battle for first and second. Neal drew the golden peg and then turned up half cut after trying to put a dent in 84 barrels of beer that were going out of date. He's had a big carp on the pole, on maggot shallow, and a couple late, down the edge on a 12mm pellet, over a whole bag of groundbait. A few silvers and f1's took his weight up to 37-04.
That wasn't quite enough as Dennis Clayton pipped him to the post in Fergie time with a late penalty at the Stretford End. After an agonising wait for Neal the scales settled on 38-10 for a section and match win.
Well done Den,  its been a while since a Manc won anything.
All in all not great fishing but, always nice to be out with the lads.
Going through to the next round of the Veterans knockout cup are Rob J, Den C, Col R and Keith.

Roll on the Clay Pit in two weeks.
