Rods dominate at the pit

20th July 2019
Weston Pools - Clay Pit

The second match of the month saw us fishing the Clay Pit at Weston Pools. 17 members attended split over 5 sections.
As the 6th match and the halfway point in the league this year and also the quarter finals of the summer knockout cup.

The first section saw Tony Wilson take the section and the match from peg 9. Switching between mugging on the waggler and shallow on the pole at 5m saw him ticking over steadily. A late run down the edge boosted his weight to 87lb.

The second section and 3rd overall was taken by Neal Howard from peg 12 with 54lb mostly caught on the method feeder close. It was just enough to pip Offy to the envelope who had 51-06.

The third section on the far bank was won by Paul Edwards with 34-00 from peg 19.

Dennis Clayton took the fourth section with 32lb from peg 30 but it wasn't enough to beat Keith whose 51-02 saw him claw back some ground in the Keith v Den challenge. Its now 4-2 in favour of Den.

The final section and second overall was taken by John Rogers who put 69-06 on the scales despite moaning about it being a shithole all week. Abandoning his usual finessed approach, the tip wanker caught on a method feeder at 8m in about 200ft of water. Yozzer could be heard spinning in his grave.

The cup results were:

Bucko beat Neal
Den C beat Rich
Tony beat Carl
Level 5 hungover Bob beat Level 6 hungover Dave

1st Tony W 87-00
2nd Bucko 69-06
3rd Neal 54-00
