Paul Edwards continues his great start to 2018

Hampton Springs - Rock and Meadows
7th April 2018

After a weather enforced break which saw the March match cancelled at Weston, most people were itching to get back out and we had a great turnout of 20 anglers.
Spread across both Rock and Meadows pools to give a bit more space, it still proved quite difficult on a cold and very wet day.
The match was also the first round of the newly devised veterans knockout cup.

Over on Meadows pool Paul Edwards borrowed a rod and fished a feeder into the corner of the lake and caught good stamp carp steadily through the day to amass a weight of 40-04 to take both the section and the match overall. This was his first match win with the club, I'm sure there will be more to follow.

Sort that barnet out

Frank took the win in the second section on Meadow from peg 9 with a few decent carp for 12-08 but it wasn't enough to progress in the cup.
The final section on Meadow saw Robbie catch 13-06 to both win the section and progress to the cup semi's.

Over on Rock pool the first section was a tough one won by Paul Mc with 11-08 from peg 6.

The second section saw Dave Edwards win with 31-04 and take third place overall. He picked up £20 to put towards his van repairs.

Just needs a T-Cut

In the last section Lez Smith caught 16-10 of carp and F1's fishing a method down the edge. Enough for him to progress in the cup, Norman also caught the biggest fish of the year so far with a carp of exactly 10lb which prompted the usual shout of "Get on the paste" from the pensioner. He weighed 19-00 to progress at the expense of Frank.
Neither had caught enough to beat Chris Roe though who won the lake and took second place overall with 32-06 of mainly F1's caught in the shallow water towards the island on peg 31.

Through to the semi finals of the cup then are Lez S, Norman, Keith and Robbie.

Well done to all framers and section winners.

On to Weston Pools next for the Veterans cup semi's and hopefully some better weather.
