Fortune favours the Dave

Old Hough Fishery
Upper Benbo
4th February 2017

This months match was another new venue for the club. Old Hough Fishery just outside Middlewich on Upper Benbo pool. A canal style lake with 24 pegs.

This round would also be the quarter final of the winter knock out cup. Chris Roe couldn't make it so that meant there would be a bye into the semi finals for one lucky angler. The draw for the cup was as follows:

Colin v Richie
Offy v Keith
Carl v Tony
And, low and behold, Dave got a bye straight into the semi final. He's not lucky though, could've happened to anyone.

The draw for the match itself took place in the cafe, where everyone enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Except Dave who moaned like fuck about tomato juice touching his bacon and stuff. Some people are never happy.

There were 16 anglers present at the cafe and one who was still in bed sleeping off one to many 'wife beaters' from the night before. Mr. Smith was left with the last peg in the drawbag, an end peg at that.
The all in at 10am, as stated on WhatsApp and Facebook earlier in the week was greeted with complaints of 'I'm not ready', 'I haven't put my nets in yet' etc. In future could these complaints please be emailed to toughshit@gmail.com.

10 mins later it was apparent that Dave had a few fish in front of him, quite a few fish in fact. He's not lucky though.
After Dobbing 2.5ft deep in 3ft of water towards the island he managed to catch some early carp before switching his attention to dobbing for squirrels. The squirrels didn't seem to want his bread though and he just kept catching trees instead. (Maybe try nuts next time).
So a couple of hours in and not content with the huge ball of carp in front of him he decided to go and show Bob how to catch trees too.
Now, catching trees isn't something you want to do with £1800 of prime brand new carbon, but Dave insisted.
He got Bob snagged in the tree, good and proper, and pop went the Whisker. He then skulked back to his peg and never told us it was his fault. Despicable behaviour.
After getting rid of the opposition, Dave went on to win the section and the match with a staggering 39lb 8oz which was almost as much as the other 16 anglers combined. Well done, you jammy bastard. Also in his section Richie beat Colin with a nice Barbel to progress in the cup.

Just along from Dave was Dennis Clayton who also managed to smash one of his pole sections by missing his back roller. However, I'm sure beating Kieth, winning his section, picking up a medal, and taking over as the leader of the seasons biggest fish will have eased the suffering. He managed a carp of 6lb 3oz.
Did I mention he beat Kieth?

The third section was won by Offy with a couple of carp for 7lb odd caught on corn towards the aerator in the corner. That was also enough for 2nd place overall and his first medal with the club. He now qualifies for extra abuse so fill your boots lads.

The fourth section was won by Carl who had 2 carp and a skimmer for 4lb 12oz. Well done Carl, nice to see you pick up some dough.
Unfortunately he just missed out on qualifying for the cup semis by 4oz. Beaten by Tony who won the final section with 5lb of silvers.

All in all a tough day for everyone except that man Edwards who still moaned more than a good prostitute.
With 2 wins from 2 matches he's looking good for the league already.
Class angler and a stuffy cunt, the rest of us don't stand a chance.

Nice to see Neil back on the bank today too and unlucky to just miss out on the medals with 4th place.

Weston Pools next on Belvedere and we're coming to get you Edwards.

Anglers through to the cup semis are Dave, Offy, Rich and Tony.
