Tunnel Barn Farm - New Pool
23rd July 2016
After the usual stop at the Toby in Knowle for breakfast we arrived at the fishery around 9am. The draw had been made over breakfast and we all had a bit of space.
Richie and Churchy both fished the feeder and weighed a combined 74-08 for 4th place. Churchy managed 39lb and a new BP. A good effort from both but not enough in the end.
I set my dad up to fish corn and hemp in 3ft on a top kit and he was into fish from the start and caught steadily for most of the day, weighing 66lb, a great effort in his first attempt match fishing.
I struggled to make anything work for large parts of the match and weighed 76lb, only enough to put us 3rd overall.
Another masterclass of shallow fishing from Chris Roe saw 123-11 put on the scales, combined with 24-05 from Colin was enough for 2nd place.
The final pairing was Dave and Paul. They were on the opposite side of an island so nobody could see them. A quick phone call to Dave after a couple of hours revealed he had caught 60-70lb already. After another 2 hours he was claiming to have been lying earlier and now had 50-60lb. By the end of the match I couldn't hear what he was claiming because my ears were full of bullshit.
What I can tell you is he fished corn to the far bank (or so he said) and managed to put 106-05 on the scales. A great effort. Paul had also fished a great match just missing out on a PB and weighing 47-14. Their combined total was 154-03, enough to take the brown envelope.
