Hampton Springs - Willow
Due to a family wedding there would be no Edwards brothers making an appearance and with a few others missing there would be 15 fishing.
That left plenty of room and lots of pegs with a chance of throwing up a weight.
The one everyone wanted was 27 next to the bridge and it stuck to the hand of Chris Roe. A top angler on a top peg, we were all up against it.
The first section was a close one with Captain Fantastic managing 35-14 to win it ahead of Norman and Churchy. Peg 8, a flier on the bridge, went to waste after it was drawn for Brunty and he never turned up. Tut tut Mr. Brunt.
The second section was won by Tony Wilson, who also won the match with 104-13. He caught for the first half of the match on the pellet waggler then came in the margins and fed 10 pints of pellet and 8 tins of corn to keep the carp coming.
In the third section Bob just pipped Frank with 37-03, enough for 3rd overall, but it came at a cost. He managed to drop his brand new phone and tried to do a few keep ups. However, due to drinking a bottle of gin the night before, his foot-eye co-ordination was slightly out and into the drink it went. As he tried to retrieve it from the lake, he slipped, and now ankle deep in water, his tip slammed round and he tried to play a carp with his chest and one foot. The carp sent a couple of text messages and then disappeared with his feeder.
Eventually the phone was retrieved along with a Preston side tray and a bait punch, kindly donated to Dennis. By the end of the match the phone was fine again, not so sure about Bob.
Section 4 was comprehensively won by Chris 'The Green Machine' Roe with 91-14. After a fast start he suffered a quiet spell mid-match which cost him the win. A late run on the method feeder in the margins wasn't quite enough. He's probably going to need a hernia operation too after trying to lift 90lb in one net.
Roll on September!
Sounds like I missed a cracking match well in all of you
