Garbolino Club Teams of 4 - Weston Pools
Wed 3rd July 2019
This is one of the events which the lads in the club look forward to every year. We have come close to winning it a couple of times and entered 2 teams this year. The teams were decided with a one off qualifier and I led the first team which was made up of Bob O'Neill, Dave Edwards and John Rogers.
The second team was led by Graham Offlands and was made up of Neal Howard, Keith Howard and Lez Smith.
The captains drew pegs for the team and placed an angler on each of four lakes. There were 20 teams involved so it was a bit tight on some lakes to say the least.
In team A Dave caught 110lb from peg 6 on Stretton. Fishing across to the far bank for most of his fish on the deck with 6mm pellet he took an excellent 3rd place on the lake.
Bob was on peg 5 on Belvidere and managed a credible 8th place. Beaten by the pegs which had pads where the f1's have fed shallow but ahead of most of the other pegs around him. Unable to catch on the usual 3ft and 4ft lines he's had to fish in the deeper water to get bites.
I was on peg 7 on the Clay Pit, a lovely looking peg. Despite a quick start with 3 fish for 10lb I then went 4 hours scratching my head before another late run took me up to 48lb for 5th on the lake.
John Rogers drew peg 7 on the Canal. Not often a peg used in matches but in a decent area and with pads to fish to. He caught 69lb for 3rd place on the lake.
This gave us a total of 20 points and to our surprise it was enough to win the competition. We scooped £300 cash and a voucher for the shop to the value of £200.
We were absolutely delighted to have won this representing the club and the B team kindly joined in the celebrations with us.
Oh, and the B team weren't last!
Ooooosh. The mighty SAS
LOVING IT XXX
