Just thought I'd do a little review of all the trophies won in 2018
Here's Robbie Jones who finished bottom of the league and recieved the wooden spoon from Co-founder member and serial wooden spoon picker upper Lez Smith
A special award for Steve who has been an ever present at our presentation nights despite never going fishing. He's been declared the official Club Mascot. His support is appreciated.
....and here's Offy with perhaps the most hauting image of all time. It's now been made into the world famous 'Offy cock clock' to be hung in his kitchen. I'm sure it will be the centre of all dinner party conversations.
Has anyone ever looked happier to have cocks all over their face?
The award for the most improved angler of 2018. We couldn't split these two. Paul Edwards won Division 2 and in doing so gained promotion. He also won the Summer knockout cup and took 3rd place in overall league.
Carl Harrison was runner-up in division 2, gained promotion and finished in 4th place in the league overall.
A great achievment for both, well done lads.
Paul Edwards with the Division 1 trophy
....and the Summer knockout cup
Despite picking up the wooden spoon, Robbie Jones did win the trophy for the seasons biggest fish. A 12lb 8oz Mirror Carp from peg 14 on Stretton at Weston Pools
The Division 1 trophy went to Dave Edwards by a single point.
Dave also won the overall league for the third time in the last four years, the guy's a machine.
The Winter knockout cup went to Dave Edwards (cough, foul hooked carp in the belly in the final cough, cough)
Keith Howard took the inaugural Veterans knockout cup contested between the 8 most senior members of the club (bunch of old farts).
The trophy for the best weight of the year went to Tony Wilson. He caught 164-08 from Gwen's pool at Hall Lane.
Tony also won the two memorial cups in memory of Gary Hooper and Yozzer in 2018.
The Dennis v Keith 'challenge' yet again went the way of Keith Howard by a score of 9-3. Come on Dennis you can do better than that.
And last but not least the 2019 SAS killer pool champion is Becky Edwards, who kindly gave the boys a free lesson.
Big thanks go to Dennis and Keith for sorting the food and all throphies and to Richie Williams for organising the venue.
Wishing you all the best of luck for 2019........
......except for Dave.
Great blog Tony love you
