Dave edges closer to the title

Weston Pools
Stretton
7th October 2017

This month's match saw the club returning to Weston Pools, for the final time this year, on Stretton.
A couple of members missing but 4 guests made for another good turn out.
The lake has 32 pegs so, although it was tight, everyone would have a spare platform to one side or the other.
The match would also be a qualifier to the Weston Club Angler of the Year final. The winner joining Tony Wilson, Norman Smith and Dave Edwards in the competition.
Section 1 saw Dave Edwards, on peg 3, fish a great match picking up a few carp on pellet at the bottom of the near shelf before venturing out to 16m towards the far bank. A steady run of carp for most of the day saw him take a healthy lead before dropping back short and finish the match with another run of good fish. His 85-02 enough for both a section and match win. Also in the first section was Joanne Wilson. Fishing her first ever match, she was delighted when her 14-02 was enough to beat half a dozen of the lads.
The second section saw Chris Williams (the dopey piss head, not the Bill Oddie waxwork) take 38-12 on the feeder. Starting on corn to the far bank and dropping back on maggot down the track, he had caught mainly carp. His weight was enough for the section win and 4 league points.
The third section saw Bob O'neill catch some proper munters up to 12lb and take the section with 38-04.
The third section was a battle between 2 guests. Soon to be member John Rogers, and never to be member (He's too good) Ian Simpson.
With few carp showing at this end of the lake, they both fished for Ide. John has caught well on the deck for 61-00 but, couldn't keep up with former World Champion and 13 time Fish-o-mania winner Simmo. His 75-08 of Ide and F1's caught shallow enough for the section and 2nd overall.
The last section was a tough one, unless your name was Colin. He's made the most of his end peg, catching shallow for most of the day and had 52-00 for the section win and 2 league points. As Dave was already qualified, Colin is now in the Weston Club Angler of the Year competition. Great result Col, well done.
No catch photo's as I had to use my phone as a weigh sheet due to not having a pen. Schoolboy error, sorry.

The Keith v Dennis challenge is now 6-4 in favour of the silly bearded one, meaning Den needs to win the last 2 to draw level.

The next one is Partridge lakes on November 4th, on Spey and Ribbon brrrrrrr. Don't forget your flasks and long johns.
