Baldy Burt joins the SAS ton club

Hall Lane Fishery
Gwen's Pool
5th August 2017

A new venue for the club and a very impressive one too, Gwen's pool is a straight canal with around 15m across.
This was the eighth match in the league and also the semi finals of the summer knockout cup. The semi final draw saw Tony v Norman and Chris v Dave.
With 3 members missing and one guest we had 16 anglers spread over 28 pegs.
The first section fished well with Offy, Chris Williams II, and Colin all breaking 30lb but the man in form Bob O'Neill did enough to win with 54-12.

The second section was also really close with 3 anglers, Norman Smith, Richie Williams and Dave Edwards all breaking 50lb. Despite Dave doing his usual moaning about it being a shithole, having caught nothing, putting his gear on Ebay, etc. He put 58-12 on the scales for a section win and 4th overall. I didn't take a picture because he told me he'd been beaten both sides but I think this just about sums it up.

The third section saw Chris Roe take the section and the match with a very impressive weight of 141lb, only the 3rd ton ever in an SAS league match. All the more impressive due to being a 5 hour match and from the middle of the lake. Also in his section Keith Howard managed a new PB and 3rd place overall with 90-04. That illusive ton can't be too far away.

The fourth and final section saw Carl Harrison also break his PB with a weight of 46-12 but it wasn't enough to beat the end peg wanker, Tony Wilson. He used the long margin to his right to his advantage and managed 95lb for 2nd overall. He was so far ahead he even had time to polish his head with Mr. Sheen for the photo's.

That means that Tony Wilson and Chris Roe will contest the Summer knockout cup final on the next match at Heronbrook's Bridge pool.

Some great weights with everyone catching a few fish. It proved to be the best club match we've had so far with over 50lb average weight. This is a venue we will have to return to in 2018.
