Hampton Springs - Willow
Back to one of the club's favourite venues this month, Willow on Hampton Springs.
This match would also be the quarter finals of the summer knockout cup. The draw was as follows:
Churchy v Tony
Chris R v Frank
Colin v Dave
Norman v Robbie
No Paul or Neal for this one but with 2 guests in attendance there was a total of 18 anglers spread over 33 pegs. The first section saw Tony Wilson take the section and match overall with 79lb 10oz from peg 3. After a slow start he fed corn heavy in the margins and with 90 minutes to go, quality carp turned up in numbers. Churchy on peg 1 got off to a flyer fishing the method with corn but slowed down mid match. He took 30-14 enough for 4th overall.
The second section was taken by Graham Offlands. Fishing corn and meat in the margins he landed 4 Barbel and some carp to record 21lb and beat the man in form, Norman Smith, who must be all fished out after his two week Saga holiday.
Also in their section was Carl who caught a Pheasant which took the bait attached to a spare top kit.
In the third section, Bob O'Neill fished a mainly shallow match on pellet and took 29lb for a share of 5th overall. After arriving at his peg to be greeted by a dog turd he spent most of the match swatting flies. He also managed to catch the Pheasant, the poor thing was a bit skinny and obviously needed a good meal, the Pheasant didn't look to healthy either.
The fourth section saw Frank Branscombe pick up the dollar for the 2nd match running. He tried the pole for a change and had some carp short on corn, taking a tough section with 10-08. Frank also managed to catch a duck, we've never pulled so many birds.
The fifth section was taken by Richie Williams who caught on the method to the island for 29lb and a share of 5th place.
The sixth and final section was taken by Dave Edwards who ((copy and paste) caught more than most people, called it a shithole, claimed 30lb, weighed 50lb and finished 2nd). Yawn....
Chris Roe also had 33-04 to take 3rd place and a spot in the cup
semi final.
The semi finalists are Tony, Chris, Dave and Norman.
