Weston Pools
Canal
Canal
This months match was back at Weston Pools. We had chosen Canal pool as its the biggest on the venue and would give everyone a bit of room.
After breakfast at the cafe nearby, the draw was done.
There were a few people who couldn't attend so it left 13 of us to fight out the honours.
This months drunk in bed award goes to Richie Williams, there's always one.

This month's match would also be the final for the Winter knockout cup. The two finalists were Tony Wilson and Dave Edwards.
After some cracking weights during practice sessions in the lead up to the match, everyone was confident of catching a few and so it proved with one of the best matches the club has had.
In the first section Tony Wilson did enough to both take both the section and finish 2nd overall with an 87lb
mixed bag of F1's, Barbel and Ide caught on caster and pellet.

The second section saw Dennis Clayton take an impressive victory with 53lb of mainly Barbel and Ide fishing up and down in the margins with caster and corn. It was also enough for 4th overall.
Section 3 was won by Neal Howard with 40lb, he caught at 2+2 on pellet and then shorter on caster for mainly F1's and a few big Ide, taking £5 pocket money off his old man in the process.
The 4th and final section was by far the best with Colin Roe taking 43lb 10oz, Paul Edwards setting a new PB with 39lb 7oz and Dave Edwards pleasure fishing on his own lake managed 57lb of mainly F1's, a good effort but not enough to deny Tony Wilson the honours in the winter knockout cup.
The section and match winner however was Norman Smith. Drawn on peg 42. He's caught Barbel and F1's down both edges on worm to put 104lb 07oz on the scales and comfortably win the match. He's been asking for a match on a canal for a while, not sure this is what he had in mind but I'm sure he'll take it.
Quality angling Norm, the bench mark has been set for the best weight of the season and it's going to take some beating. If anywhere's capable though, it's Heronbrook.....roll on May.
