Dave Hammers The Opposition
The first match of 2026 took the club back to Stamford Way fishery where we welcomed back former member Brett and new member Steve to the club.
With 15 anglers spread over a lake and a half it was Dave Edwards who drew the most fancied peg in 12 and made no mistake bringing 84lb of carp and F1s to the net to take the win convincingly. He's mainly dobbed bread to the corner of the island.
He's top of the league for the first time in the post Paula era but can he stay there?
In second place, and winning his section by a landslide was new member and venue expert Steve. After telling everyone in the build up to fish maggot he turned up with some tinned vegetables and caught 69lb of carp. Have to keep an eye on him.
Third overall was Mike, from unfancied peg 15, he managed to dob 44lb at the island.
There were also section wins for the Carl H and Carl F.
Best catch of the day goes to Neal who somehow managed to catch a claw hammer from his margins.
