Wilson's streak continues

Hall Lane - Gwen's
4th August 2018

This month saw the club return to Hall Lane on Gwen's pool. A 28 peg straight canal with 17 fishing.

The honours on the day were taken by Tony Wilson. Rotating between maggot over groundbait down the edge and caster shallow at 5 meters saw him amass 164-08 to take the victory from peg 9.
That was his third league match win in a row and also set a new record for the best weight in a club league match.

In second place, and winning 'the section of death' against Chris Roe and Col Cook, was Dave Edwards with 115-12.
He caught on expander over micros in the margins and even hooked a few of them in the mouth. Unfortunately he had drawn Tony in the knockout cup and was left wondering what might have been if he'd plundered his margins earlier.
It was however Dave's first ton in a club league match, so well done to him.

Further up the lake and the third section was won by Richie Williams. Fishing the method both across and down the edge, he had 40 fish but they were only small and he weighed 55-05. If he could control his bladder he could have doubled that.

The 4th section was convincingly won by John Rogers. Resisting the temptation to run up and down Parbold hill naked for 5 hours paid off and he put 92-06 on the scales.

The final section was taken by Colin Roe, his 62-09 just enough to pip Paul Edwards' 61-05.

With weights averaging over 60lb this must be one of the best venues we visit.

Through to the semi-finals of the knockout cup are Tony Wilson, Colin Roe, Les Cousins and Paul Edwards.

1st. Tony Wilson 164-08
2nd. Dave Edwards 115-12
3rd. Chris Roe 108-10
4th. John Rogers - 92-06
