Tony wins on the Clay Pit

Weston Pools - Clay Pit
2nd June 2018

This was the clubs first match on the Clay Pit at Weston Pools. Following a festival the previous two days it was clear that the venue is a bit out of sorts although there were still a few decent weights coming out.

After the obligatory breakfast at the truck stop and Carl Harrison fiddling the spot the ball for the 3rd month running it was off to Weston for the draw.

The first section on the boards was won by Norman Smith. Despite his advancing years and two nights (or should that be 50 years) on the piss, he managed to beat those around him. He weighed 46-10 of mainly waggler caught carp from peg 5.

The second section was taken by Tony Wilson from peg 8 with 74-12 after having a late run of big carp down the edge on corn. That was also enough to take the match win.
On the next peg Richie Williams decided to throw a side tray leg in the lake at the start of the match. Not for the first time either, he mustn't like them.

The third section was moaned in by Dave Edwards. Despite claiming he'd only caught one decent fish all day, he weighed 46-00. You can tell when he's not winning as he barely speaks all day (except on the phone to Lisa).

A very close 4th section saw Neal Howard pick up the brown envelope. Just pipping Dennis Clayton by less than 2lb, he weighed 36-10.

The final section saw Keith Howard do enough to beat Dennis with 47-10 from peg 34 (cough flyer cough). It wasn't enough for the section win though as Paul Edwards, on peg 36, weighed 53-00 for second overall. He caught carp steadily through the day by rotating lines.
