Barston Lake
Fri 19th May 2017
7 members travelled down the day before the weekend away to have a bash at Barston, and we were joined by Paul Robinson from Caldy Anglers.
We arrived and had pie and chips in the clubhouse before setting off to our pegs and fishing 1-6pm. We had been given Pegs 100-111 on the road side so could at least park behind our pegs and didn't have to do a sponsored walk like last year.
With Colin Roe deciding to fish with 2 carp rods there were 7 of us using nets. The start of the match saw some opting for the pole and some going straight out on the rods. In the end it was the pole lines that produced more consistenly with pellet being the best bait.
Tony Wilson had a steady run of decent Bream and 3 carp to 18lb to take the honours with a total weight of 89lb 7oz. Fishing a 4mm expander at 8 meters over a mixture of groundbait and micro's.
Dave Edwards started on worm and caught smaller skimmers. A switch to pellet later on saw him catch some better fish and take second place with 42-12.
