Cudmore - Suez Canal
Another new venue for the club this month saw us on Cudmore on the Suez Canal. A large lake with 40 pegs and with a few members missing there would be plenty of room for the 14 in attendance.
The usual practice sessions didn't happen this time so everyone went into it blind.
The on-site cafe provided everyone with breakfast and after getting some advice on pegging from Frank, the fishery manager, the draw was done.
The first section saw Norman put together 33-06 of mainly silvers fishing worm and caster down the track. . At least I think he did, I can't get hold of him as he's fishing again. Oh, to be a pensioner.
He took no sympathy on poor Kieth who struggled to see his float after throwing his glasses in the lake.
The second section was well spread out and Tony Wilson made the most of the room available (7 spare pegs to the right, f&#@ing drawbag) to put 41-14 on the scales, enough for a section win and second place in the match. He caught mainly small F1's with a few proper carp and bream on pellet short in 3ft of water. Also in his section Graham Offlands managed a great net of silvers for 25-02, enough for 4th place overall.
The next section saw Chris Roe drawn against Frank, Richie and Dave. Richie disappeared halfway through the match suffering a severe bout of Chimp flu.
Frank, not wanting to pick up any thing similar, decided that rather than sit in the rain, he would fish parts of the match from his van, and just come out when the tip went round.
Chris caught at the far bank at 14 meters switching between different lines in 4ft of water as the F1's didn't seem to want to settle on one line for too long.
At the end of the match he claimed to have around 20lb and that he'd been beaten by Dave. He then weighed 52-02 and beat Dave by over 30lb. There should be a penalty for such severe bullshiting.
The section win and overall match win were a big step towards winning both leagues, well done on another great performance. He really does seem unstoppable this year.
The last section saw Bob win convincingly with 23-15 making the most of his end peg and taking 5th place overall. He caught using maggot over micro's at 5 meters and on the feeder.
The fun then started as Tony's car wouldn't start and after much clowning around in the rain it was jump started. Thanks to everyone who stayed around to help out.
Home Farm match lake next time around.
