Heronbrook - Bridge Pool
Sept 2nd 2017
Back to Heronbrook for the 9th league match of the year and the final of the Summer knockout cup.
There were 17 members and 2 guests in attendance and the final was between Tony Wilson and Chris Roe.
The first section was won by Tony Wilson catching carp and f1's on corn close in and maggot down the track. His 56-08 was enough to stay ahead of Frank Branscombe who was catching carp on peg 1 and going for a walk to retrieve them from under the bridge.
The 2nd section was taken by Paul Edwards his 23-12 was enough for his first section win with the club. That means we're allowed to start giving him some shit.
Section 3 was won by Keith Howard with 40-04 just pipping Les Cousins by a pound. It was also enough to take the lead 5-4 in the Keith v Dennis championship, ooooh its getting tense.
In section 4 Richie Williams, the Iranian midget, was drawn in the corner with all sorts of features to go at. He caught on a pellet feeder in a cut out at the far bank reeds. His 49-12 was enough to win comfortably and take 5th overall.
The 5th section was taken by Chris Roe. After feeding a shallow line he noticed some fizzing, switched to fishing on the deck and caught carp and f1's. His 50-04 enough for the section win but falling just short in the Knockout Cup.
The last section was by far the best with 250lb between 4 anglers. Norman Smith did enough to just hold off Dave Edwards. Dave got off to a flyer with a carp of 13-08 on his first put in and set the benchmark for the seasons biggest fish. He continued catching for most of the day but couldn't keep up with the pensioner next door.
Norman had caught a mixed bag fishing worm and caster to begin with and then switching to corn. Those barbel seem to love him, they must be attracted to the smell of old people.
His 74-08 was just enough for the section and overall win.
Well done you old fart.
The rest of the section was made up of Carl Harrison 46-04 and Paul Mc 54-04.
1. Norm 74-08
2. Dave 71-04
3. Tony 56-08
The summer Knockout Cup goes to Tony Wilson.
Smell of stella
