Tunnel Barn Farm
House Pool
Sat 20 May 2017
Finally the weekend away arrived after the slowest week in the history of the world.
With the draw already done and pairs sorted it was just a case of having breakfast and getting to the pegs.
The annual North v South charity match was also taking place at the venue and the place was heaving.
After the way House fished last year everyone was looking forward to this one and it didn't dissapoint.
The F1's were in a funny mood and didn't want to settle on the deck in any depth of water. This lead to most people suffering lots of liners and foul hookers. The best approach in the end was to catch them shallow or cut right back on the feed.
Leading the way was Tony Wilson on Peg 4, with 135lb of F1's caught in 2ft in the edge and at 6 meters shallow, all on pellet.
In second place was Dave Edwards on Peg 25, who employed a tactic that seems to be working well at the moment. Catch fuck all at the start, go for a walk, have a moan, then go back and empty it. He managed 109lb 12oz caught down the edge on expander over micro's.
Third place was Chris Roe with 105lb 8oz of F1's caught from 2 different shallow lines, one at 13m and one under the floating island to his left.
There were also 3 PB's broken with Neal Howard catching 48lb 10oz fishing pellet over mico's in the edge.
Lez Smith who used the pole for a change and had 30lb after taking advice (being shouted at like a child) from Keith.
Paul Edwards also setting a new PB of 45-08, great effort guys.
There were also some good weights from Norman Smith with 59lb 10oz and Colin Roe with 46lb.
The lead in the pairs competition went to Tony and Churchy with 152lb just 7lb ahead of Dave and Bob with 145lb. Keith and Chris weren't too far behind with 118lb and with Norm and Paul on 105lb it was still all to play for going into day 2.
Part of Tony Wilson's winning bag of 135lb from Peg 4.
Saturday Night saw us heading to the Masala Club in Balsall Common for Keith Howard's 60th Birthday celebrations. The place was rammed but the staff did their best to look after us and a great night was had.

Looks like there's something wrong with Dave's hand.......more than usual.
