Dave Destroys The Opposition

Cheshire Fishing Rover
December 3rd 2016

The last match of the 2016 season saw us return to regular haunt Cheshire Fisheries.
The weather was hovering around 5 degrees and overcast with the odd sunny spell.
There were 13 members at this one split over 4 sections.
With Chris Roe already having won the league with a match spare there would be a battle for 2nd place between Dave Edwards and Tony Wilson and plenty of other chances for members to move up the table.
As the fishery was quiet they allowed us to have a rover match.
This gave everyone the opportunity to fish wherever they wanted and no opportunity to moan about the draw afterwards.
This lead to everyone standing round scratching their heads and asking where everyone else was going.
The first section was one bank of Pool 5 between Dennis Clayton, Dave Edwards and Keith Howard. A masterclass from Dave saw him have a bite every drop in for the first half of the match. The second half was generally spent accusing his family and friends of stealing the last of his pellets and phoning Lisa. By the end though he put 69-01 on the scales. Well done that man.
The second section was a mixture of Pools 3 & 5 and was comfortably won by Robbie Jones who had Pool 3 to himself and managed to snare a few decent carp. Despite packing up at 2:30 thinking it was 3:30, (we shout ALL OUT! at the end, how long have you been coming?)  his 16-06 was enough for a section win.
In section 3 Churchy went from Hero to Zero in the space of a month and recorded a DNW.
Tony Wilson weighed 28-09 for the section win and 3rd place overall.
The final section was split over Pools 6 & 7, Graham Offlands finished 3rd in section with 17-12, Bob O'Neill was 2nd with 22-03 and that man Norman Smith caught enough for 2nd in the match with 32-13. Norman had pool 7 all to himself after the owner told us it was the deepest lake on the complex at around 12-13ft deep. Norm caught loads of small carp in 4-5ft. You can't beat a bit of local knowledge.
Dave's win was enough for him to sneak into 2nd by one point.
The final tables for the main league and section points league have now been updated. The section winners league is now going to be scrapped in favor of a knockout cup.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year.
